Is it too happy? Too sad?
Too much blood? Just plain bad?
Is it facile, elitist?
Too ordered, poor neatness?
Too high brow, too low;
understated, too show-
y; too shallow, intense;
opined, on the fence;
too blah, too exciting;
too slow, fast as lightning;
too detailed, too macro;
unoriginal, a long bow;
too country, too chic;
oh-so-vague, no mystique;
too loose, or too tight?
Or is it really just right?
As a writer you risk never quite making do
if you aim to please any one outside of you.

Thanks, Louise. Whenever frustration manifests as rhyming couplets, I think it’s important to share đ

My frustration never manifests in rhyming couplets, but if it ever does, I’ll share it, too.
