‘The cat on the ceiling’ is a tiny absurdity that was originally published and exhibited with artwork by the talented Sheila Ayling in 2015’s Conversations exhibition and anthology.
Today I recorded it. My kids told me I should share it with you.
What you hear is rough and ready, recorded on two free apps and uploaded in the space of a couple of hours, using no special recording equipment and improvised gear: bongo; spontaneous vocal loops; metal measuring cups on a cheese grater.
The cover art is amended from a photo of a cat I met in Adrigole, Ireland, in 2015. His name was Felix.
Side note: I had to restart the reading when our resident cat food-stealing butcher bird chimed in. I call him Butch. In hindsight, Butch’s inclusion might have improved the recording.
